Harajiri Falls are located in the Ogata area of Bungo-ono, on the Ogata Plain, about a 20-minute drive from Miemachi. Since it's located on a plain, the waterfalls appear almost suddenly in the landscape, in a beautiful arch which can be viewed from the Takimi-bashi suspension bridge further down the river. Due to their shape and beauty, the Harajiri Falls are sometimes called "The Niagara Falls of Japan", so if you can't get to the real Niagara Falls, or even if you can, the Harajiri Falls are well worth a visit!
There's also a highly-rated (on Trip Advisor) michi-no-eki (Japanese-style roadside service station) right near the entrance to the falls, where you can find fresh locally-grown produce, souvenirs, and seasonal ice cream, as well as a variety of regional dishes.
