The festival has been held for half a century and is specifically aimed at children. It features large carp banners. Douwasai - Fairy Tale Festival The biggest festival in Kusu is called Douwasai. It is a festival for children that occurs on May 5th (known as the national holiday called “Children's Day” in Japan). Good festival food, student concerts, storytelling, and a giant koinobori (a silk streamer in the shape of a fish) that people can walk through are a few of the sites at this local festival.
