When: Early April Dates: 2 - 17 April (2020), 6 - 19 April (2019) 1 - 14 April (2017) City: Ogata, Bungo-ono (near Harajiri Falls) Website: Event Facebook page (Japanese) Description: This festival has been held every year in April for 27 years (unfortunately due to coronavirus, the 28th festival was cancelled), around the "Harajiri no Taki" michi-no-eki (roadside station). It features 300,000 tulips of 100 different types, planted by volunteers from both inside and outside the city.
There is a grand opening ceremony, and then stage events such as singing, dancing, kagura (traditional play usually performed at shrines) and brass band performances by local school children. There is also a horse-riding experience area, a gourmet area, and a stamp rally.
